Barcelona reportedly have allocated cash for Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann, but are keen on signing ex-Saint who failed to hold down a regular place under boss Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.
Yet, incredibly, out-of-favour Luke Shaw, 22, is first choice on Barca’s summer wishlist — for a season-long loan.
The report claims that the La Liga leaders want to sign Shaw on a season-long loan this summer to provide competition for Jordi Alba, with Barca’s other option, Lucas Digne, having suffered injury problems this season. United, meanwhile, are targeting left-backs to replace Luke Shaw and are keeping tabs on Juventus’ Alex Sandro.
The 22-year-old is expected to leave Old Trafford at the end of the season after falling out of favour with Jose Mourinho. Shaw has been constantly criticised in public by Mourinho. And the latest blast came after he was hooked at half-time in the 2-0 FA Cup win over Brighton last month, which was just his 15th game of the season, and appears to have no chance of making the England squad for this summer’s World Cup.
